Anyway, here’s my response to this ad:
Hello!I would like to submit my resume for the barback or busser positions you have available. I’ve previously worked at a pub/lounge for 5 months in a limited food server/bartender capacity and am looking to expand my experience behind a bar. I am constantly striving to better myself and have no problem keeping my energy up in a bar/restaurant setting. I live within walking distance of Hollywood Blvd. so punctuality would not be an issue. I would love the opportunity to meet you for an interview.
Thanks for your time,
Joel Chaidez
Walk about
Today I’m walking around the area near the Pacific Design Center turning in applications at bars/restaurants. I’m trying to look on the bright side of my situation and one of the nice things is that I get to be outside walking around!
One of my favorite times to walk around a city is in the afternoon when everyone is at work and things are calm.
There are only a couple of people having drinks in each bar I walk into and it reminds me of being on vacation. A boy can dream…

Hello! My main concern right now is length of my response. Too short? I’m thinking keep it short and simple but I wonder if that’s not enough for this kind of work. Que pensez-tu?I just saw your ad on Craigslist and hope there’s still a chance to get an interview set up. I keep myself up to date on memes, viral anything and social networking on a daily basis. From what I’ve read on your ad, you’re looking for someone who can make various social media work together. I am constantly working on discovering how to use social media to it’s full potential.
Some of the applications I am currently working with are: Tumblr for Work , Tumblr for Personal Stuff , Facebook , Twitter , Buzzfeed and Myspace . (these were all linked to my own pages)
I think I’d be a great addition to your team and would love the opportunity to meet with you. If you have any questions for me or would like some more information, you may contact me via phone or email.
Thanks for your time,

Here is a job at what, on the surface, seems to be a cool company called Protagonist. I did a little research and from what little I could find, they seem to use web videos in their marketing arsenal. Fun fun!
Here is the letter I wrote them:
Hello,
I am submitting my resume for the position of Office/Personal Assistant. I have 4 years experience as an Office Manager in a production/online office setting. I am very flexible with taking on new duties and can quickly adapt to new situations. I have a calm, positive personality which, as I’m sure you know, is extremely helpful in the entertainment industry.
The last three years I’ve spent immersing myself in online marketing. Web media/content is my passion. I would really like the opportunity to learn more about the type of marketing your company is currently doing.
I love dogs as I have a Pit Bull/Beagle of my own that I treat like my own child. Obligatory picture of him is included!
I hope to have the chance to speak with you in person and convince you I am the guy for this job.
Thanks for your time,
Joel Chaidez
P.S. I know I look kinda crazy in my picture but it’s the most recent one I have. I hope the picture of Peagle makes up for it.
I figured the company was pretty ‘lax so I tried to be as chill as possible without sounding like some lame-o kid trying to kick it with the Jones’. Haven’t heard back from them… Oh, here are the pictures I emailed to them:
In Case The Title’s Not Descriptive Enough…
I’m starting this blog to track my job-hunting progress. What kind of job am I looking for you ask?? Very good question. I would like to find something that will put my internet skillz to good use. I’m a fervent member of Generation Y who loves his memes and dots his iPhones (take the pun and let’s move on).
Most of the jobs I’m looking for can be found by networking or searching the internets. For the sake of keeping this blog fun AND my wallet, I’m going to expand my search to encompass ANY kind of job. Target and Carl’s Jr. here I come!
So to sum it up, me looking for work and talking about all the crazy going-ons that come with that. Cause, I’m sure we can all agree that, looking for work in this economy will stir up all sorts of C-R-A-Y-Z-Y.
